Routine inspections of water storage tanks are critical when assessing predictive maintenance and potential failures. To ensure a failure does not occur, it is recommended that your tanks undergo a full inspection every 3 - 5 years.
Draining tanks ahead of time can result in costly downtime, while the use of divers inside a tank creates unnecessary safety risks. More often than not, a great deal of planning, procedures and permits must be in place prior to entering a confined space. These steps are always costly and potentially have high risk, which take a lot of time and money to properly / safely plan.
One of the greatest advantages of using an ROV is this allows the tank to remain online during the inspection process. Draining, refilling and recommissioning a tank is costly, wasteful and can disrupt water service for a community / industrial process.
Another significant advantage associated with using an ROV allows the operator to remain safely outside of the tank. The safety of our operators far outweigh the potential injury / loss of life and having an ROV complete the tank inspection vs placing someone inside the tank doesn’t even compare.
AquaVision Canada Inc.'s ROV allows for safe and efficient inspections of all water (potable / fire) storage tanks. With a dive time of over 3 hours and and a 400' tether, we can capture 4K video and extremely high resolution imagery of any problematic area found within the tank.
